What does the Foundation do?

Our primary function is to raise money for the betterment of the Northern Lights Council (NLC), this is a basic interpretation of our mission.

Over the years we have been able to give NLC over $800,000 with $100,000 being donated from the last fiscal year. We manage investments and fundraising events to be able to donate money to NLC. Recently we were able to co-fund the Grizzly Den Adventure Grant Fund with Scouts Canada. Previously to the Grizzly Den the Foundation self-funded and self-monitored an adventure grant program that saw many groups go on amazing adventures.

Who is the Northern Lights Scout Foundation?

You are, as a member of Scouts Canada Northern Lights Council. Everyone is eligible to be in the Foundation as a regular member. We do have a Board of Directors of up to 10 people, made up of current active members as well as scouters that are no longer active with a group but still want to continue giving back to the youth and scouters that make up NLC. Once a scout ALWAYS a scout! These people exemplify this statement and only want the best things for NLC even though they are no longer currently serving as scouters.

Why do we need the Foundation?

This council is VERY active. To facilitate the mission of Scouts Canada, the Foundation was created to assist in fundraising and aiding the funding of character-building adventures to our youth into becoming the leaders of the next generation.
